JEWISH HOLY SITES

The holiest site for Jewish pilgrims is the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem because of its position close to where the Holy of Holies of the Temple used to be.

The second holiest site is the Cave of Machpela in Hebron where the Patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as well as the Matriarchs Sara, Leah and Rebecca were laid to rest. The next holy site is the Tomb of Rachel near Jerusalem.

Jewish pilgrims love to visit the tombs of different Tzedakkim in Israel. Most of these tombs are in or near Tiberias and Tzfat in Galilee. The Talmud explains that prayers prayed at the grave of someone who was holy during his lifetime have a greater chance of being accepted. It is believed that such prayers are done in the merit of both the person praying there today as well as the merit of the holy man where one prays.
