MOUNT TAVOR
The Gospels describe how Jesus once took Peter, John and James up a hill to pray. While praying the face of Jesus changed its appearance and his clothes became white.

Then two men appeared and started to talk to Him. They were Moses and the Prophet Elijah and talked to Jesus about his mission to go to Jerusalem and die according to God's plan.
This happened while Peter and his companions were asleep. When they woke up they saw the three men in their glorious appearance. They offered to build three shelters for them in order to keep them there.
However, Moses and Elijah left and the place was covered with a cloud. Then the voice of God came from the cloud saying: "This is my Son, whom I have chosen - listen to him!"
Then the cloud disappeared and Jesus alone remained on the hill with his three disciples. It is widely believed that the hill where it all happened is Mount Tavor, between Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee.
What to see
The Franciscan Basilica of the Transfiguration is the most impressive building on Mt Tavor. Inside the Basilica is a stone that might be the spot where Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus.
